Erskine Tree Surgeons
Ltd was established
in 1982 by
Bill Cairns. The company was originally run from home, adapting a small shed and office to work from. For a number of years, Bill worked during the day as a tree surgeon and went out quoting work at night. Esther Cairns answered the telephone during the day whilst bringing up a young family of 3. Through hard work and determination the foundations of Erskine Tree Surgeons Limited were laid.
Over the years, Bill
has become a craftsman arborist
achieving an RFS Certificate in Arboriculture, SCOTVEC Urban Tree Management certificate and trained to AA Technician Cert Arb level. He was also a part time Practical Skills lecturer at Woodburn House in Glasgow for 1 year. Bill’s main focus and role within the company is structural
management.
Esther Cairns trained in accountancy once the children grew up, and now maintains the role of office manager.
Lee-Anne Cairns originally started as
labourer for the company where she attained NPTC certification in tree surgery. She later attended The University of Central Lancashire for 4 years where she achieved her honours degree in Arboriculture, specialising in tree
biomechanics. She holds certification in mortgage and subsidence writing and Professional Tree Inspection (PTI). Lee-Anne is our primary consultant and oversees all contractual matters for the business daily.
Kevin Cairns first trained as a car mechanic and then changed careers to become a tree surgeon. He holds a national diploma in Arboriculture and is a fully qualified tree surgeon, specialising in large tree removals. After many years as the main charge hand for the squads he has made the step into the office on a full-time basis. Kevin now holds the position of Operations Manager for the company and is thriving in his new role.
Your daily point of contact will be with our receptionist Alicia, a vibrant young lady who is more than happy to help with all enquiries. We endeavour to maintain the values of a family run business and the subsequent customer service that we provide.
All our staff are trained and certified through the National Proficiency Test Council (NPTC). As they are employed on a full-time basis, they undergo personalised training schedules that feed into our succession planning system.
